I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your valued support over the last 5 years.  It has been an honour and a privilege to support the community that we are all a part of, highlighting the positive contribution we all make. The Phoenix Newspaper cuts across cultures with a truly multicultural slant.

For this reason, we hope that you continue reading the Phoenix Newspaper as part of your 5-a-day routine to give you the overall feel good factor. It is a very special time for us as we celebrate 5 years of serving the community. To celebrate this landmark occasion we will be staging a whole day of buzzing excitement.

The day will start with the official launch and grand opening of the PhoenExpo exhibition, perfect for Business to Business, and Business to Consumer. This is a unique day, in celebration of the Commonwealth and its rich cultures.

As a mark of respect for those that have given themselves so that we are able to celebrate oneness, we will honour them on the day. People including Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King, Ghandi, and many more great people who left a great legacy.

We will promote:
Health & Wellbeing,
Travel & Tourism,
Communication,
and Community Safety & Education

These are categories that exhibitors at the expo can showcase themselves in for you. We’ve got a very special treat in store for you that reminds me of my childhood, and that is the Christmas Caribbean Grand Market. Look out for it on the day! The Phoenix Newspaper has been running for 5 years, and we look forward to celebrating it with you, the reader.

We are expecting 10,000 people to walk through the Expo throughout the day. The Bethel Convention Centre was chosen for its capacity, location and understanding of events of this magnitude. With a total capacity of 5,000 this is the perfect venue to hold our fifth anniversary - All praise is to our God!
There are still sponsorship opportunities available, including Award Sponsorship, as well as a number of sponsorship packages for the whole day events. Thank you in advance if you want to get involved or partake in this event. Please feel free to contact the event team on 0121 231 3235 or 07948 155 192.

Some Quotes Of Inspiration

I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that.  We want to live by each other’s happiness - not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone.  And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.
In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you!  You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security.  By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance.
Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Excerpts from Charlie Chaplains speech in ‘The Great Dictator’

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr’s ‘I Have A Dream’ Speech

We have a beautiful history, and we shall create another in the future that will astonish the world.

Marcus Garvey

Until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, me say war. That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race me say war!

Haile Selassie
