The first thing that you notice when you get the Brydge Air keyboard out in front of someone new is that inquisitive look. Are you using a Macbook? Is it a small laptop?

The look and finish of the Brydge Air really set it apart from the rest of the competition. Perfectly complimenting the colour, size, and look of your iPad, the Brydge Air is a stunning addition to the iPad.

Boasting backlit keys, a surprising set of speakers, an impressive battery life and looks to die for, the Brydge Air allows you to use the iPad as a mini Macbook.

A full keyboard makes you almost believe you are using a full Macbook and you will probably find yourself moving your hand to where the touchpad would normally be when you’re using it.

While annoying at first, you’ve got to remember that the iPad is actually a large touchscreen in itself, and once you’ve trained yourself to think of it as such, your user experience increases significantly.

Using friction fit hinges, the keyboard easily attaches to the iPad Air, and while I wouldn’t recommend holding it by the keyboard alone, it does sit very snugly and without much give.

To fit the thinner iPad Air 2, Brydge supply a second set of grips to attach to the keyboard.

Pairing both the keyboard and speakers is straightforward with no issues, and while the speakers aren’t the best in the world, they are significantly better than I thought they would be.

The Brydge Air is a bit weighty, and here lies my only complaint. 520g may not sound like much, but coupled with the weight of the iPad Air, it is a significant increase over the iPad alone.

Being proficient at typing using the iPad’s onscreen keyboard anyway, the Brydge Air had to give me something different to warrant its continued usage, and with its wide array of dedicated iOS keys, as well as everything mentioned before, it delivered.

For those worried about scratches to the back of the iPad itself, Brydge also supply a clear case for the back of the iPad to protect it.

As I finish this review, using the Brydge Air to write it up, I can say that despite the hefty price tag of £105, if you’re looking for a keyboard for your iPad, there isn’t a single section that I would say that the Brydge Air falls down in.

The Brydge Air is available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold, to match your choice of iPad.
