Staff and customers at Birmingham’s leading designer of clothing and accessories, Fat Face, are pulling out the stops to support the city’s John Taylor Hospice. The store team has already presented the hospice with a total of £906.61 and is aiming to increase this amount by taking part in a series of challenges. The initial donation was raised as part of a company-wide initiative to support local good causes to mark November’s Black Friday weekend. Rather than discounting products, the company committed to giving away 10% of profits over the Black Friday weekend. In total Fat Face donated nearly £200,000 to local charities – the single biggest donation in the history of the company.

Each local store was encouraged to choose their cause and the staff at the new store in Birmingham’s Grand Central opted for John Taylor Hospice.

The shop also held a fundraiser for the hospice with live music in store and a raffle with prizes including Fat Face vouchers, chocolates and Justin Bieber fragrance.

Store manager Jade Suter said: “We chose John Taylor Hospice for our charity because we just couldn’t ignore the hard work and care they provide for our community. It’s a charity that really stood out to us and we wanted to get behind and support them.”

The Grand Central Fat Face staff have taken John Taylor Hospice to their hearts and are planning more events and challenges throughout the year.

Hospice community and corporate development manager Natalie Mayo said: “The Fat Face team and their customers have been so supportive and we’re really looking forward to involving them in the hospice over the coming months.

“Fifteen staff from the Grand Central store are taking part in the Color Run in August and four people are taking to the heights to skydive for the hospice. We are really grateful for all of their support and enthusiasm - they are really helping us to make a difference for the hundreds of local people we care for.”
