The nation is coming together for the Great British Spring Clean in March, and you can get involved in Haringey. You can set up your own clean-up event in the borough, or check online to see what is already being planned. The Great British Spring Clean, backed by TV wildlife presenter Steve Backshall, will be held on the weekend of March 3-5. Organiser Keep Britain Tidy is urging individuals, clubs, schools and businesses to get involved and be Litter Heroes. There is a free guide online about running events as well as information on where to get equipment and posters.

Supporting the campaign in London is Clean-up UK’s Beautiful Boroughs Project. Senior Project Coordinator Sarah Hayes said: “We plan to help many more people to get out there and clean up in 2017. Haringey residents have really got behind previous events and it would be great to see even more get involved to help clean up the borough’s streets. It’s a great chance to make a difference, whilst bringing the local community together.”

Haringey Council is also getting behind the event. Cabinet Member for Environment Peray Ahmet said: “Let’s all join together and give Haringey some TLC. Whether you want to join a big event already happening, or set up a small clean-up of your own, it’s easy to take part in the Great British Spring Clean.”
