Walsall College Performing Arts students are putting the finishing touches together for their final stage performances of the year as part of the college’s Venue Drama Festival.

Both level 2 and 3 Performing Arts students will get the chance to showcase their talents and the skills they have learnt throughout the year to a public audience, when a series of shows are staged in The Venue, the college’s theatre space next month.

Level 2 students will perform ‘Courtyard Dogs’, a Portuguese take on Macbeth on Wednesday 3rd June, while level 3 (year 2) actors will be showcasing their talents in ‘Our Country’s Good’, a play which follows a group of 18th century Australian Royal Marines on their voyage of hope and redemption on Wednesday 10th June.

In the final performance, first year level 3 students will take to the stage for ‘The Word in a Blow’: an exploration of different works written by William Shakespeare, on Thursday 11th June.

Performing Arts lecturer, Paul Evans, said: “Students are working hard in rehearsals and are looking forward to performing on stage in front of a live audience. It will give them a taste of what it’s like for professional actors working in the industry.

“The different shows demonstrate the diversity of the material covered on the course and has enabled the students to develop their skills in presenting dramatic theatre.”

Matinee and evening shows will be performed in the Venue at the college’s Wisemore Campus at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are priced at £3 and are on sale between 10am-12pm each day from the Finance Team.
