Unemployed Wolverhampton residents can now get on the fast track to jobs in the security sector. City of Wolverhampton Council, Bilston Resource Centre, and the Department for Work and Pensions, have teamed up with employers GMS Security Services Ltd, K2 Security and Cardinal Security, who are offering guaranteed interviews for participants on the programme. Participants will gain skills on the three-week programme and the opportunity to gain accredited training to door supervisor Level 2, emergency first aid, customer service skills, and employability skills.

They will also be supported in obtaining their Security Industry Authority (SIA) badge. City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor John Reynolds, said: “This is an excellent initiative to help unemployed people in the area find a way back into work. “Working as a partnership provides those on the programme with a valuable insight into the job. We have run previous fast track into employment courses in construction and cleaning and they have proved very successful – I expect this one in the security sector to deliver for unemployed residents in the same way.”

Anyone interested in pursuing a career in security can attend one of two information sessions at 9.30am or 1pm, on Friday, January 20, at Bilston Resource Centre, St Michaels Mission Hall, Wolverhampton Street, Bilston, WV14 0LT.

To book a place on either of the sessions please see your Work Coach at the Jobcentre.
