Hundreds of thousands may have received a high five from a giant foam Perry hand; a cheery greeting, helpful directions or a photo op from our fantastic fourteen thousand-strong Commonwealth collective.
In their iconic Balti orange and steely grey uniforms, complete with an iconic Peaky Blinders style flat cap, volunteers have been behind the scenes ensuring athletes are well looked after – from shepherding them to and from venues, treating them when unwell or injured and consoling or congratulating them after difficult or life-changing moments throughout the Games.
