On behalf of Reverend Eve Pitts, Holy Trinity Church, Birchfield, in Birmingham, will be hosting an event on Sunday 24th July 2022, commencing at 4pm.  This event will be in the frame of a service. The theme of the service is “A Celebration of the Commonwealth Games 2022”, which is scheduled to commence on 28th July 2022, in Birmingham.

The service will provide an excellent opportunity for an eclectic mix of people from the community, to embrace and welcome the Commonwealth Games. Formal invitations have been sent to local churches, schools, and associations/organisations. Guest artists have been invited to participate in the service - a saxophonist; a community choir; a baritone singer.

Poetry will also feature in the service.  Members of Holy Trinity Church’s congregation are invited to ‘share their stories’ of their experience, on their arrival in the UK during the 50s and 60s. This will be a wonderful afternoon of worship, celebration, entertainment and lively Caribbean music - not to mention reggae.

Light refreshments will be served to complement the afternoon. Following the service, weather permitting, the West doors will be opened, leading to the beautiful church gardens, where people can meet and greet each other, over a glass of wine - continuing the celebrations.
