Members of the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, students at the Royal College of Music and musicians of the London Vegetable Orchestra have launched the Get Creative Family Arts Festival by playing some delicious-sounding instruments. They played carrot recorders, courgettes, peppers and even pumpkin percussion.

Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra musicians will be making ‘Ratatouille in Concert’ on their conventional instruments at the Royal Albert Hall on 28 October.  Pixar’s 2007 animated adventure of Remy, the food-loving rat, will be screened in high definition with live orchestral accompaniment.

The Royal College of Music in London's South Kensington will host a special family workshop on the day of the concert to explore the sounds of this magical soundtrack.

Ratatouille in Concert and the accompanying family workshop are just 2 of the 5,000 events in this year's Get Creative Family Arts Festival - the UK’s biggest cultural festival that runs 9 October to 1 November 2015.  It embraces every artform and aims to bring families together through the arts.

The London Vegetable Orchestra is the UK’s only ‘home grown’ ensemble making music on instruments made from vegetables, which sound as incredible as they look.  Their members include professional musicians who freelance with the RPO and LSO.
