What better way to celebrate an Olympic year than by taking part in the St Lucia triathlon that includes workouts with former Olympian, Daley Thompson. The Digicel St Lucia International Triathlon will be held on 19 November – the culmination of a week long festival of fun activities hosted by Tri St Lucia which include a 2km ocean swim, an aquathlon (swim and run) and a beach run.

In addition double gold Olympic champion Daley Thompson will hold early morning work out classes on the beach at The Landings Resort and Spa.  There are also master classes in swimming and running to help triathletes improve their techniques.

Event director and former c competition manager for the Olympic triathlon at London 2012, John Lunt said: “We are delighted to have Daley back with us for the St Lucia Triathlon.   The whole week is a fantastic opportunity to rub shoulders with someone who has performed at such a high level on the world stage.”

Event ambassador, Daley Thompson comments, “I look forward to being able to share some of my experience with triathlon participants.

“Morning work outs and master classes in running and swimming will be on offer to all participants. They present a great opportunity to pick up tips on techniques to improve performance and race times.”

The event, with a strong Pirate theme, has three separate competitive distances including:

• The Dagger: 200m swim, 6.6km bike, 2.5km run

• The Pistol: 750m swim, 13.2km bike, 5km run

• The Cutlass: 1500m swim, 26.4km bike, 10km run

The course includes a swim in the beautiful clear waters of Rodney Bay, then a tough hilly and a challenging bike ride and finally the run loop to Pigeon Island and back.

Children have two events to challenge them:  for 8- 12 year olds there will be a 100m swim, an 800m bike and an 800m run as their challenge. Those aged 12- 16 can do the aquathlon, 200m swim and 800m run.

Tri St Lucia is a magnificent opportunity to visit the Caribbean, do a race, mix with Olympians and have a great time.  As well as the event, there are a number of island receptions including a pre-race party, a post event BBQ and party with prize giving on the beach and a spectacular ocean boat trip to the Pitons for all competitors and partners.
