Chelmsford-based developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to Roxwell Pre-school, a charity dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for young children in Roxwell.

Since becoming a charity organisation in 1981, the Roxwell Pre-school committee – comprised of parents and community volunteers – has worked tirelessly to offer an exciting, safe and educational environment for children in the local community. The housebuilder’s donation will fund Christmas presents for the children and a new outdoor playhouse.

This playhouse, to be placed in the ‘home corner’ of the pre-school’s garden, will help inspire creativity and help the children’s imaginations to thrive. April Little, Manager at Roxwell Pre-school, said: “Our children love playing in the home corner, where their imaginations and ideas can truly flourish.

“This donation has given us an exciting opportunity to enhance our outdoor space, allowing the children’s creativity to grow even further. The pre-school exists because of dedication and teamwork.

“We rely on fundraising events and the generosity of others to provide an exciting environment for local children. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Barratt and David Wilson Homes.

“It is donations like this that make a huge difference to our small group.” Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation.

The Foundation is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the areas in which the housebuilder operates. April added: “Thanks to Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme, opportunities that once seemed out of reach for our group are now becoming a reality.

“We cannot put into words what it’ll mean to the children when they receive their Christmas presents and new playhouse. We feel very blessed.”

Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We’re honoured to be able to support Roxwell Pre-school in its work to deliver engaging and fun activities for local children.

“We thrilled to hear our donation will help to enhance the children’s experience and the pre-school’s facilities. We are always proud to use our Community Fund donation to support local charities and organisations, especially when it allows us to contribute positively to young people and their educations.”
