Pupils at Spring Meadow Primary School in Harwich are observing and helping local garden birds, thanks to a thoughtful donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
The housebuilder, which is currently building a range of properties at its Languard View development in Dovercourt, has gifted a set of bird feeders and bird seed to the school. The initiative is part of the developer’s ongoing commitment to supporting local wildlife and creating opportunities for young people to connect with nature.
The donation has been made to assist pupils in taking part in the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch, taking place between 7th January and 14th February. The nationwide event encourages children across the UK to learn about birds and take an active role in wildlife conservation.
Rebecca Wills, Outdoor Learning Lead at Spring Meadow Primary School, said: “The children at Spring Meadow are extremely grateful for the wonderful donations from Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
“We are looking forward to continuing to use these to support the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch.” There are numerous benefits to installing bird feeders in outdoor areas, from providing a safe food source for birds to improving pollination.
Initiatives like this help create a harmonious environment where both people and wildlife can thrive. Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We’re thrilled to support Spring Meadow Primary School with this donation and help inspire the next generation of nature enthusiasts.
“The RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch is a fantastic opportunity for children to engage with their local environment and learn about the importance of preserving wildlife. We’re proud to play a small part in encouraging biodiversity in the area.”
Languard View is home to a mix of two to four bedroom properties, located on Low Road.
