Christmas comes around just once a year, but by joining in with ActionAid’s brand new fundraising initiative Faux Ho Ho, the festival fun can be doubled while raising money to  help change the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable women and children.

For the first time ever the charity has launched Faux Ho Ho – to encourage supporters to invite their favourite people round to eat, drink and be merry at their ‘fake’ Christmas celebration. People who sign up can go as big or as small as they wish, from a few nibbles to a full meal which guests can then donate to enjoy.

Sign-ups will receive a fundraising pack with lots of ideas and resources to help host a great event. It is packed with everything for a fantastic Christmas get together, including handy recipe cards with specially chosen delicious dishes to help you on your way, as well as photo-booth props and games.

Helen Thompson, from ActionAid says,

Christmas is a time for sharing and getting together with your loved ones but also for thinking of others. We know so many people who have ‘fake’ Christmas days with their friends, colleagues and loved ones so we thought why not also use these fun days to raise some money for the women and children across the globe who ActionAid work with. There’s a whole range of ways people can raise money. You can donate to take part in the games in the party pack or for cakes and treats. It’s really simple to make a difference this Christmas.”

The money raised means ActionAid can help to keep the poorest and most vulnerable children safe this Christmas. Children like Nguyen who lives in the mountainous region of northern Vietnam where it gets very cold. Most families can’t afford to buy their children a coat, so rather than risk them getting ill on the walk to school or during a long cold day in the classroom, many students don’t go to school in the winter months.
