Capel St Mary CEVC Primary School has received a donation of mental health-themed books from David Wilson Homes, which is building new homes nearby at its Constable Gardens development in East Bergholt.

The £200 book donation was made to mark World Book Day (6th March), an annual celebration that promotes reading for pleasure and encourages children to explore the joys of literature. The books, carefully selected to support children’s emotional well-being and mental health, cover a range of important topics such as managing emotions, diversity, friendships, and online safety.

Sean Cornish, Headteacher at Capel St Mary CEVC Primary School, said: “Here at Capel, we work hard to ensure that we do the best we can for the whole child, this kind donation will enable us to do that.” Among the Usborne book titles donated were ‘All About Feelings’, ‘What are Feelings?’, ‘All About Diversity’, ‘Social Media Survival Guide’, ‘Friendship Survival Guide’, ‘Mindful Activities’, and ‘Staying Safe Online’.

Tom Wright, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “At David Wilson Homes, we are committed to giving back to the communities where we build new homes.

“Reading is a vital tool for education and personal development, and we are proud to support Capel St Mary CEVC Primary School with these resources. Mental health is an important topic for young people, and we hope these books will help children explore their emotions and build resilience in a supportive environment.”
