Looking for a challenge? Birmingham Museums are inviting people to make history count with three running challenges set to raise vital funds for the city’s museums.

With many official running events postponed this year Birmingham Museums virtual fun run challenges are a chance for seasoned runners, as well as novices, to keep moving over the summer while adding to their medal collection.

The three challenges – a 5k or 10k starting or ending at Birmingham’s 250-year-old Sarehole Mill and a 5k starting or ending at the city’s iconic 400-year-old Aston Hall – can be completed any time before end of today. Participants can run at any pace, whenever they want and those that finish the challenge will receive a special limited-edition medal.

Lucy Elvin, Business Development Manager at Birmingham Museums Trust says: “This August we’re giving runners a chance to take part in a challenge that will support two of Birmingham’s most important historic buildings – Sarehole Mill and Aston Hall.

“If, like many of us, you have enjoyed swapping overcrowded trains for fresh air and open spaces this past year, then this challenge is just the event for you. There are some wonderful parks and off-road paths surrounding both venues that make for a really enjoyable run - we’d love to see you take part!”

The Run of the Mill and Aston Hall August Fun Run are open to everyone. Runners can join any time until the challenge closes today.

It costs just £10 to join and the entry fee includes a unique finishers medal. As well as providing motivation and purpose to running entry fees will help raise vital funds to support the work of Birmingham Museums Trust.
