Hair and Media Make-up students at Walsall College will be using their skills to create frightening faces at this year’s Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust’s special Halloween Boat Trips. From horrifying vampires to spine-chilling ghosts, Level 2 and 3 students have been perfecting their looks as part of an assessed unit on their course. The students will also be providing makeovers for the college’s Travel and Tourism students, who will be supporting the trust with co-ordinating the event and frightening guests at the attraction.

Work Experience Coordinator at Walsall College, Jaswant Sembhi, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust for the second year running on these events, as they help to provide students with real and valuable work opportunities from which they can develop their skills. Both Make-up and Travel students really enjoyed the experience last year as it helped them to build their confidence and enhance their employability prospects.”

Hair and Media Make-up student, Talia Winton, 16, commented: “It’s only been a few weeks but I’m really enjoying the course and have learnt so much. Gaining work experience at the canal will be a big challenge but one I’m really excited about.”

Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust’s Halloween Boat Trips will be taking place from 28th – 31st October. Visitors embarking on the boat into the caverns will be in for a treat with plenty of special effects, spooky stories and scary surprises along the ride.

Rebecca Cooper-Sayer, Volunteer Co-ordinator at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust said: “We’re very excited about working in partnership with Walsall College and its talented students for our special Halloween events. They will be integral in helping us to ensure our guests have a unique and true Halloween experience when they visit our attraction.”
