USA star, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was one of the major headline acts, as she set a championship record as she won the women's 400m, whilst Botswana’s Collen Kebinatshipi and Bayapo Ndori took gold and bronze – respectively - in the men's 400m final.
As she covered her mouth with her hands in shock, it was confirmed on the big screen, double Olympic 400m hurdles champion, McLaughlin-Levrone now goes down as the championship record holder and, as the second faster in the women's 400m at the World Championships, she’s the second fastest runner over the distance – ever!
Behind her, Marileidy Paulinho of the Dominican Republic took silver, whilst bronze went to Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser – for Marileidy Paulino, she set a new national record, which was even quicker than the time in which she won Olympic gold. For Britain & Northern Ireland’s Amber Anning, she finished in fifth in a fast race which saw all running season best times.
Elsewhere, during an international meet of the highest quality, in the field events, Cuba’s Leyanis Perez Hernandez and Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad & Tobago won the women's triple jump and men's javelin respectively.
