The world has gone Dahl dotty in 2016 and what better way to celebrate the legendary author’s 100th birthday, than with the world’s biggest dot-to-dot? Puzzler Media, the UK’s leading puzzle publisher, has produced a 1,000-dot puzzle recreating a classic image from Roald Dahl’s BFG featuring Sophie and the giant. The design was filled out by hand in the gardens of Surrey’s Botleys Mansion as a giant projector beamed the process live onto the side of the stately home 12 metres high by 25 metres wide. It is believed to be the largest-scale dot-to-dot puzzle ever created.

Staff from Puzzler Media’s HQ in Redhill, Surrey competed to find out who had the steadiest hand to take on the task, with Lynda Newland proving she had the luck of the draw. The puzzle was then painstakingly filled in with the 1,000 seemingly random dots joining up to complete the picture right in front of their own schnozzles. Taking an hour to complete, the intricate design is a fitting tribute to one of the country’s greatest storytellers.

The giant dot-to-dot will also appear in the September issue of Puzzler Media’s new monthly Creative Dot-to-Dot magazine. Mark Whiteway, Publishing Manager of Puzzler Media said: “Dot-to-dot has really taken off as a relaxing adult pastime. Dahl’s books often encourage adults to learn from children and embrace the idea of play, so we wanted to celebrate the life of one of the most imaginative, magical and best-loved storytellers with a dot-to-dot that’s giant in every way. We had a huge amount of fun solving it and we hope you do too.”

Fans of Creative Dot-to-Dot will be able have their own go at completing the phizz-whizzing puzzle in a special double-page feature of the September issue of the magazine.
