To celebrate its 40th anniversary, music from one of the most iconic TV series of all time will be celebrated in three special reunion concerts exclusively at Birmingham Town Hall, a B:Music venue.

The timeless soundtrack from the TV show Fame will be brought to life in the concerts by no less than seven members the original cast live on stage, depicting the iconic landscape of comedy, drama and music that defined an era.

Having left an undeniable and indelible mark on popular culture, the Fame TV series had a seismic impact on the lives of many, thanks to the introduction of captivating characters and evocative music that are so infused to the genre. Fame was a phenomenon that the UK had not seen since The Beatles.

Now for three exclusive concerts only at Birmingham Town Hall, Valerie Landsburg (Doris), Lee Curreri (Bruno), Carlo Imperato (Danny), P.R. Paul (Montgomery), Cynthia Gibb (Holly), Jesse Borrego (Jesse), and Loretta Chandler (Dusty) will provide a musical trip down memory lane, singing the iconic theme tune and songs from the classic series – including Hi-Fidelity, Friday Night and Starmaker – alongside many other fan favourites. Fans can be assured of a nostalgic and exciting evening that will take them straight back to the 1980s.

Valerie Landsburg said: “Together we all go back in time and feel like teenagers all over again. In the 1980s people laughed and cried with us. We have all shared so much together. There is something very special about coming back to the UK for these concerts. I was sent to London to do press for Fame in 1982. I was bowled over by the effect the show had in the UK. None of us had any idea. Coming back again to perform feels like a perfect circle back to these roots with the fans.”

17 June 2022 marked the 40th anniversary of BBC One showing the very first episode of the smash hit TV series Fame on UK television. Broadcast straight after Top of the Pops, the series became a phenomenon. The show ran for six seasons. Five television soundtrack albums were released. ‘The Kids from Fame’ emerged from the series and became one of the biggest pop acts of the 1980s. They released six albums in only three years and toured the UK and Europe twice, including legendary concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.

The cast for these three special reunion concerts at Birmingham Town Hall, a B:Music venue is brought together by lifelong Fame fan Sue Hinds who, with a team of volunteers, is producing the shows in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice. The hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.

Sue Hinds commented, “Like hundreds of other fans I desperately wanted the Fame cast to return to the UK. However, no one was stepping forward to take on that responsibility and challenge. It occurred to me that the person stepping forward could be me... after all, if you want something bad enough then you have to make it happen.

The journey has been incredible, and I’ve had the most amazing support from some fellow Fame fans and together we have become a great team. Like me, these colleagues want nothing more than to create an amazing product, do the cast and fans proud and raise some money for our fantastic charity.”

Presented in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice, Fame UK Reunion 2022: 40th Anniversary Concerts will take place at Birmingham Town Hall, a B:Music venue from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 September 2022 at 7.30pm.
