A Norwich-based housebuilder has donated £1,500 to Dereham Meeting Point, a local charity supporting older and disabled residents, adults with learning difficulties, and people living with dementia.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes made the donation through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
The funding has contributed to Dereham Meeting Point’s core costs, helping to sustain vital services including daily support, meals, transport, and community events for vulnerable residents in Dereham and surrounding areas. Shonette Mooney, Manager at Dereham Meeting Point, said: “We were overwhelmed and very grateful to be chosen for this donation, especially at a time when our budget has been cut.
“Donations like this are a vital lifeline that help us continue providing support, activities, and a welcoming space for our community members.” Established in 1988, Dereham Meeting Point offers a warm and friendly environment with daily lunches, transport to and from the centre, and a variety of social and support activities throughout the year, all aimed at improving quality of life for those over 55 and adults with additional needs.
Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “We’re proud to support Dereham Meeting Point, a charity that provides vital care and companionship to some of Norfolk’s most vulnerable residents.
“It’s warm, welcoming environment helps improve lives through essential services and community connection. We hope our donation helps the charity to continue to offer these valuable activities and support.”
