The Drum Arts/Theatre Centre in Birmingham is very pleased to announce the appointment of Tennexa Freeman as Writer and Producer in Residence. At the tender age of just 15 Tennexa began writing her first pieces of work using experiences from her every day life enabling her to create socially relevant, captivating plays touching on crucial topics that were seen as taboo.

The West End’s long-running show – the Olivier Award-Winning comedy, 'The 39 Steps,' will visit Birmingham Repertory Theatre from February 29 to March 5, on a special 10th anniversary tour. Based on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 movie and John Buchan’s 1914 spy thriller 'The Thirty Nine Steps,' the hilarious show follows dashing hero Richard Hannay - complete with stiff upper lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache - in a dangerous tale of cat-and-mouse from London to the Scottish Highlands, in which four actors play over 130 characters in 100 minutes.

Hip-Hop/Hardcore fusion band Broken Chakra have unveiled their explosive new video off their EP, Circle of Truth.  Truth Hurts is Broken Chakra’s second video off their sophomore EP. Circle of Truth. The rowdy fusion of Hardcore Punk and Hip Hop sensibilities is a crowd favourite and looks to showcase the bands ferocious sound. Shot in Essex and again returning to the talents of Will Wright as director of this latest visual showcase of Broken Chakra’s angry sound, the video is sure to solidify the bands message on this song and EP.

Today is National Libraries Day, and Wolverhampton is holding a series of free events for all the family in support. From 10.30am, Central Library kicks off a day of activities with Pop up Poetry with Jane Seaborne. At 11am, Tony Perry will be giving a historical talk about The Folds of Wolverhampton while magician Alec Powell will be providing some Magic Moments in the Children's Library from 11.30am.

Rod Stewart has announced the ‘From Gasoline Alley to Another Country Hits 2016’ arena tour is set to delight fans when it arrives at the Barclaycard Arena, bringing with him his biggest hits from 1970 to 2016. Demand for Rod Stewart’s spectacular live shows are as strong as ever following the recent release of musical legend’s 29th critically acclaimed platinum selling album ‘Another Country’, which shot straight to #2 in October 2015.

After the success of the inaugural Signature Awards, the 2016 scheme was officially launched as specially invited guests gathered at a special event at the Punjabi Resoi restaurant in Acocks Green, in Birmingham. The awards show cases Asian professionals in the region. Love Brum was the chosen charity for the night. Organised by Ninder Johal, president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, the awards will take place at Edgbaston Stadium, home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, on March 11.

Jay Z's company, Roc Nation, is suing Rita Ora for $2.3m after the company issued a countersuit in response to Ora’s demand to be released from the label – but a settlement is expected soon. According to Billboard, Ora’s lawyer says Roc Nation had to file it to avoid losing standing in the case. The claim is that Jay Z had called Ora after she filed her suit, agreeing to release her, and that the two parties were finalising the details.

The Bhangra Showdown will be heading to the Barclaycard Arena this month. Now in its 9th successive year, this will be the first time ever the World's Biggest Bhangra competition has been hosted outside of London. It all began as a venture, organised by the Imperial College Punjabi Society, with the aim of raising money for charities whilst enjoying the traditions of the vibrant Punjabi culture.
