Woodland walk marks Baby Loss Awareness Week in Haringey https://thephoenixnewspaper.com/woodland-walk-marks-baby-loss-awareness-week-in-haringey https://thephoenixnewspaper.com/woodland-walk-marks-baby-loss-awareness-week-in-haringey

Bereaved and grieving parents and families are being encouraged to attend a woodland walk on Sunday afternoon (12 October 2025, 3:30pm) as Haringey marks Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW, 9-15 October 2025).

The Baby Loss Awareness Walk will travel along Parkland Walk to the Baby Loss Tree – a place of comfort and remembrance for anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss. The event represents an opportunity for attendees to be together, reflect, remember and stand with each other while listening to music and short readings.

If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a cherished loved one, why not meet at the Holmesdale Road entrance to Parkland Walk (N6 5TJ) at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoon. The walk will begin at 3:45pm and all are welcome to attend.

We understand baby or pregnancy loss can be incredibly isolating for those who experience it. However, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone and there’s a network of highly supportive organisations and people out there to provide assistance and help to you with your grief.

Talking through your emotions also helps destigmatise such sensitive subject matter and allows others to open up on their journeys as well. The Baby Loss Awareness Walk is one of a number of events and activities in our borough that have been organised by the North and East London branch of the Stillbirth And Neonatal Deaths (SANDS) charity.

Yesterday, one of the most prominent landmarks in the borough – the iconic TV station mast at Alexandra Palace – was lit in the two symbolic colours of baby loss awareness (pink and blue) as a mark of remembrance and solidarity, as ribbon displays are also at Priory Park (behind the basketball courts), Priory Park Café and St Andrew’s Church (Alexandra Park Road, N10 2DD) throughout BLAW this year.

If you’ve been affected by this story, help is at hand. Here are two brilliant organisations who will be able to support you and your loved ones:

SANDS – North and East London branch: A local group for all forms of baby loss, offering face-to-face and online meet-ups. You can follow them on Instagram to find out more about their activities and events.

The Worst Girl Gang Ever Foundation: A charity that offers free support – including courses, podcasts and resources, as well as an online community – for anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR (Termination For Medical Reasons) or fertility struggles. Further information can be found on their website.
