The Birmingham Film Festival has announced that Steven Knight has agreed to be patron of the festival. The creator of ‘Peaky Blinders’ and writer of such films as ‘Eastern Promises’ starring Viggo Mortensen, ‘Burnt’ starring Bradley Cooper and ‘Allied’ starring Brad Pitt (due out in November), Steven is a well established and highly respected screen writer.

"More importantly to us, he is a Brummie and a champion of the city’s talent and potential. His influence and inspiration is obvious, especially during this period of change and optimism within Birmingham’s film community. When we spoke to Steven earlier this year he said “I love Birmingham, I love the way people talk, I love the way people express themselves.” That is music to our ears because that it what this festival is all about; expressing yourself."

"The future is bright for Birmingham and our festival it seems and we’d love for you to be involved. This is a great city, with plenty to offer in the way of talent, craft and facilities. To quote Steven once more “If you’re going to make it, make it in Birmingham.”

The Birmingham film festival runs from the 25th to the 27th of November 2016 with screenings at the Mockingbird Theatre, Digbeth and the Awards Gala at the amazing Park Regis Hotel.
