With summer now within touching distance, Brits are preparing for their holiday getaway and an increasing number have their sights set on sun-kissed Tenerife.The largest Canary Island is back on its feet post-recession with the Tenerife Tourism Board's latest data predicting over 5.3 million tourist arrivals for 2015.
In response to this positive statistic, Director of Tourism in Tenerife, Alberto Bernabé commented,
“This is one of the highest totals recorded historically, together with 2006, with 5.4 million visitors, and 2007 and 2008, also with about 5.3 million visitors… we are back to tourism figures similar to those recorded before the start of the financial crisis, a further sign of recovery and economic dynamism”
It is no surprise that Tenerife is set to be a popular holiday destination for 2016 with its sandy beaches, picturesque mountains and ideal climate. The island is blessed with warm temperatures year round and an average of 26-28°C in the summer high season.
Tenerife's increasing popularity has also been observed by many airlines in the UK with Vueling Airlines operating a brand new route to the island from Manchester as well as low-cost carrier Ryanair announcing an additional weekly service from Cardiff.
