Willy Etheve, the new CEO of IRT (Ile Reunion Tourisme), this week met with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, in the presence of Bernadette Honore, the representative of the Seychelles Tourism Board Office in Reunion, and Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands. Reunion Island is known for its spectacular mountains and volcano and has often been referred to as the Switzerland of the Indian Ocean and has for a long time been combining efforts with the Seychelles and its picture perfect white sandy beaches and turquoise blue seas.

At the St. Denis meeting in Reunion this week, the decision was made to intensify the existing cooperation in the field of marketing.

As an example, the marketing executives of IRT of Reunion will again be joining their Seychelles counterpart at the December marketing meeting in Seychelles, and in June 2017 for the mid-year marketing meeting, the Seychellois team will in turn travel to Reunion. “This will ensure that the two teams know the destinations well as they sit together to prepare strategies to sell the destination," said Minister St.Ange.

Other points discussed will see Didier Robert, the Regional President and Senator for Reunion, and Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles meet at the coming Top Resa French Tourism Trade Fair for joint meetings with key tourism partners among many other points raised.
