Leading independent travel company, Travel Counsellors, has experienced a very significant sales boom over the last month. The company’s leisure travel trading figures are now at 127% per cent compared to 2019 pre-pandemic levels, recording one of its highest trading weeks in the last couple of years.

Travel Counsellors continues to receive an influx in global new leisure bookings, boosted by the recent removal of the ‘amber’ list and changes to ‘red’ list and the re-opening of the US borders.

On w/c 8 November, leisure bookings traded at 135 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels, while corporate bookings were at 87 per cent.

Most leisure bookings made last week were for January 2022 departures – led by the USA (12% of all January bookings) along with; Spain (12%), Barbados (9%) and the UAE (9%) being top destinations. Last-minute departures for December 2021 are also performing well, with Lapland (Finland) being the absolute number one family destination for Christmas.

Jim Eastwood, Global Sales Director at Travel Counsellors, says: “As consumer confidence continues to rise, the demand for holidays keeps growing week by week – and our trading figures are just a reflection of that resurgence.

“Moreover, as well as exceeding our leisure travel trading figures, we have also seen a 30 per cent increase in our leisure customers in the last month, which shows that trusted travel advice is now more important than ever. By booking with one of our trusted travel advisors, consumers can receive the latest advice and know that there is someone on hand to amend arrangements should plans have to change, whilst being safe in the knowledge that their money is fully financially protected.”
