A make-up artist with over 20 years’ industry experience and a resident fashion and campaign artist for international bridal magazine, ‘Asiana Wedding’, visited Walsall College this week to deliver a professional masterclass to Level 2 and 3 Hair and Media Make-up students.

Birmingham-based make-up artist and successful business women, Ravita Pannu showed students some of the latest beauty trends, from contouring to strobing, which are used by many professionals in the industry to create a range of make-up looks from natural to more dramatic styles.

She also spoke to students about why she decided to pursue a career in the beauty industry, how she has successfully developed an esteemed reputation for herself as a freelancer in the sector and answered their questions on a number of topics including choosing products, pricing and marketing strategies she applies to her business. While her senior hair stylist, Reena Sangar, showed students how to create a stylish up-do to complete the look.

Walsall College’s Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty, Joanne Small said: “As part of students’ study programme we aim to give them as much exposure as possible to the industry and inform them of the various career options available to them once they achieve their qualifications. Masterclasses and industry talks are a great way to help prepare students for the world of work.

“The students were very inspired by Ravita and gained some valuable advice that they can apply to their own futures.”
