Hollywood Monster has once again lived up to its reputation as an industry titan, winning yet another award last week. The Birmingham-based signage company, led by Managing Director Tim Andrews, is celebrating after it scooped ‘The Soyang Wide Format Project of the Year’ accolade at the 2015 British Sign Awards.

Taking place on 13th October, the prestigious ceremony was held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham with all the industry heavyweights in attendance. Despite the tough competition, Hollywood Monster emerged the victor in their category for their work with London retail corporation, Westfield. Andrews and his team triumphed over other finalists Digital Tyger and Eyecatching Signs to take home the impressive title.

“I’m so thrilled that we have received this award from the BSGA. To have our work recognised on a national scale is always exciting and everyone at Hollywood Monster is delighted. We were in a tough category alongside great companies and so we were not expecting to win. The Westfield project was one the most difficult we’ve faced, what with the time constraints and the sheer volume of material required for the job. It really took the whole team to make it the success that it was and this award is the icing on the cake for us,” said Simon McKenzie, Sales Director.

The British Sign Awards outlined that candidates applying for ‘Wide Format Project of the Year’ would need to “have made innovative, creative and visually dramatic use of the technology,” with the winner being celebrated for their “brilliantly produced graphics applied creatively and effectively.” As such, the company’s monster makeover of Westfield London in Shephard’s Bush fulfilled and exceeded the BSGA’s criteria, as they reinvigorated the centre for summer with around 2,000 square metres of new creative material in a mere 48 hours. The task saw Hollywood Monster faced with the challenge of finding suitable substrate to cover a 90m x 13m façade, with a combination of glass and stonework to also contend with.

Alice Lutwyche, Senior Project Manager, directed the install at Westfield and said, “I’m incredibly proud of the entire team for this award. The project required all hands on deck with 20 installation experts on site, three access machines and four nights to complete the job. Westfield was a huge challenge but the finished aesthetic made it all worth it.”

Widely acknowledged as the largest signage contractor and wide format printer in the West Midlands, Hollywood Monster is no stranger to the industry award scene. The company was previously named Wide Format Print Company of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, and has also recently won Pride Awards at Business Masters Awards in 2013 and 2015.

The experts in signage and graphics have worked extensively with Westfield on a number of projects, as well as with other impressive clients such as Prologis, Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes, Lovell Homes, Seven Capital, Virgin Media, and many more. The family-run business provides clients all over the UK with a range of graphics and digitally printed products comprised of everything from an A4 sign board to the largest building wrap. Their cutting edge machinery is the largest of its kind not only in the UK but in the world, and the company looks set to continue to dominate the signage sector.
