On 21 November, Bottega Spa celebrated ‘Tree Day’ by planting 500 trees.
This choice fully reflects the mission of a company that has always considered it essential to protect the environment for the well-being of the current population and that of future generations. The winery and distillery in Bibano di Godega (TV) shares the philosophy of Treedom, the first website that allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project it will bring to life.
Bottega enthusiastically joined Treedom's project and took the first step towards creating the “Bottega Forest - A breath for the Planet”. Specifically, 500 trees were planted in Ecuador, Tanzania and Madagascar, three countries in the equatorial and tropical belt, which are characterised by lush nature that is at risk from climate change.
The company has chosen a varied range of plants, including: cocoa, coffee, lemon, lime, orange, neem, moringa, camphor, mahogany and tefrosia. Sandro Bottega, Sole Director of Bottega Spa: "I embraced this project with enthusiasm because I believe that sustainability is an absolute value that cannot be limited to the perimeter of our company, within which we have made significant investments in energy saving, environmental protection and the well-being of the people who work there.
“Planting 500 trees in distant countries is the first step towards creating the Bottega Forest and giving something back to the planet that hosts us." The Bottega family, which has four centuries of history in the world of wine and grappa, founded the company which is now both a winery and a distillery.
It is based in Bibano di Godega (TV), 50 km north of Venice, where it produces grappa, wines and liqueurs. Among the grappas, the fine selections of single grape varieties and barrique-aged distillates stand out.
The Bottega wine range includes Prosecco, including the well-known Bottega Gold, and other sparkling wines with great personality. Amarone, Ripasso, Chianti Gallo Nero, Brunello di Montalcino and other great red wines are produced in separate wineries in Valpolicella, Chianti and Montalcino.
The Bottega range is completed by a wide selection of fruit and cream liqueurs. The company distributes its products in 165 countries around the world. For many years, Bottega S.p.A. has been firmly committed to sustainability, which has led to real and concrete results in reducing its impact on the environment, society and the economy.
Since 2010, Treedom has been implementing agroforestry projects that generate environmental, social and economic benefits. The trees it plants help to protect the soil, preserve biodiversity and absorb CO₂, while their fruits support local communities by improving their diet and income and, in some cases, promoting micro-entrepreneurship initiatives.
Its vision is based on transparency, cooperation and training: each tree is geolocated and photographed, projects are developed together with NGOs and local associations, and community training is the starting point for every initiative. Treedom also promotes awareness of climate issues and spreads a culture of respect for the environment by sharing stories about its projects.
Treedom.net is the first website that allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project it will bring to life. For transparency, each tree is geolocated and photographed, and regular updates on the project are published online.
