The organisers of London 2017 – the IAAF and IPC World Athletics Championships – today announced a priority opportunity for people who form the grassroots of athletics to have the chance to attend the global event next year. The ‘athletics family’ – comprising of club members, coaches, volunteers and supporters – have all been invited to register for a priority purchase window to buy tickets for the biggest sporting event to be staged at the former Olympic Stadium since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

One lucky member of the public will secure a £150 per hour job as a ‘hidden paintball sniper’ – a key and painful obstacle in the world’s first ‘mud run’ to be ran exclusively at night. The successful applicant will also be given pre-event sniper training by ex-SAS marksmen, in readiness for its first race on the 16^th April 2016. In a particularly unique job ad, Night Games Races hopes to recruit a paintball sniper to join its sniper team, for the first race on the 16th April 2016 at Deene Park, Northamptonshire.

Action for Children is looking for runners to join its IAAF World Half Marathon team ahead of the prestigious event taking place in Cardiff on March 26^th.  The event is the perfect opportunity for runners of all ages and abilities to run in the footsteps of champions, as this mass participation event is being run simultaneously to the elite race, for the first time ever in the UK.

Birmingham City Ladies Football Club (BCLFC) has announced renowned businessman Tim Andrews as CEO, with immediate effect. The appointment of Tim Andrews marks a new era for BCLFC, which remains in the highest division of women’s football in England, the FA Women’s Super League. In the role of CEO, Tim Andrews will be responsible for off-field activities, particularly developing the club in an ever-increasingly competitive and financially demanding climate.

The Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA), which take place on 6 February 2016 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, have announced that Frank Bruno MBE will be honoured for his contribution to the world of sport. Frank Bruno will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award which is given to a sportsperson who has had a major impact on the world of sport and charity in their lifetime. He follows in the footsteps of Denise Lewis OBE who received the award last year.
