Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s second Birmingham Business Ambassadors Quiz proved a resounding success as local businesses came together for a night of trivia, fundraising, and fun at the iconic Button Factory in the Jewellery Quarter on 17th June.
The sold-out charity quiz night, hosted by quiz masters from Lloyds Bank, was organised by Anne-Marie Eden from Scanlans and supported by Omar Jones-Lewis from Higgs Solicitors who are both Business Ambassadors for the charity. Teams from across the local business community pitted their general knowledge against each other across a series of entertaining and challenging rounds.
The evening was made more successful by a well-supported raffle, all raising vital funds for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s lifesaving pre-hospital emergency service. Thanks to the incredible support from all attendees, sponsors, and supporters, the event raised more than £7,000 which will help fund future air ambulance and critical care car missions across the West Midlands
The quiz was supported by a number of local organisations, with special thanks to event sponsor, Wall James Chappell Solicitors, and round sponsors including Richmond Hydrochem, Pegasus Group, James Clark, Woods Hardwick, Ridge and Partners LLP, Hoxton Wealth, Oak Rock Ltd, GMS Group & Scanlans.
During the evening guests also had the opportunity to win exciting raffle prizes, thanks to local business donations which included:
- Four ball at Stratford Oaks Golf Club
- £50 voucher for Tattu, Birmingham
- Magnum of wine, donated by Loki
- F1 Arcade session for four people
- Two course Sunday Lunch for two people at The Forest Hotel, Dorridge

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity:
- Outstanding CQC Rating:Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following inspections at its Cosford and Tatenhill airbases in August and September 2023, and its Strensham airbase in January 2024.
- New Airbase and Headquarters:Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s new airbase and headquarters is located in Shropshire near the borders of Staffordshire and the West Midlands. The new facility will enable the charity to future-proof its service to ensure it continues to meet the rising demand for its specialist skills delivering advanced patient care on scene across the six Midlands counties including: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands, and Worcestershire. The new building includes offices for the charity’s support staff and also provides enhanced facilities for its pre-hospital emergency medicine doctors and critical care paramedics, including a clinical training and development simulation suite.
- Who are we? Midlands Air Ambulance Charity serves the largest air ambulance region in the UK. This includes counties including the communities of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, and Worcestershire, representing a population in excess of six million.
- What do we do?The charity responds to an average of 4,300 missions each year. We’re a helicopter-led service with over 2,000 of deployments being air missions. We also have a fleet of Rapid Response Vehicles and three critical care cars. On average Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is one of the longest established and busiest air ambulance operators in the UK.
- Our lifesaving service: The three air ambulance helicopters are based at Cosford airbase in Shropshire, Tatenhill airbase, near Burton-on-Trent Staffordshire, and Strensham Services on the M5 located on the Gloucestershire / Worcestershire border. The charity’s three aircraft each carry a crew comprising a pilot, two paramedics or flight doctors plus full life-support medical equipment. The fleet of critical care cars each have critical care paramedics on-board with full life-support medical equipment.
- Time is critical:The sooner a patient receives enhanced pre-hospital emergency care on-scene, the greater their chances of survival and the better their outcome. We aim to bring that level of care to them, wherever they are, as soon as possible. In 2020/21 the average time to a patient was just ten minutes.
- The cost: Each year it costs £16million just to keep the three charity helicopters and fleet of critical care cars operational. Each air ambulance mission costs £2,950 on average and each critical care car mission costs £288, which is entirely funded by the generosity of the public and local businesses.
