Jamaica will be ‘representing’ again, at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 – is being Birmingham is being highlighted in a big way too.

With the Caribbean Island set to have competitors in three events, the country of sun, sea and sand will see their own’ challenging in the Women’s monobob competition, plus the Men’s two-man and four-man divisions. And, after making their Winter Olympics “announcement” following the iconic trials and tribulations in the ‘1993 Disney pic, Cool Runnings’ the JBSF (Jamaica Bobsled & Skeleton Federation), have since gone all out to make a name for themselves in a ‘winning way.’

And for Birmingham, the UK’s second city will also be represented with the presence of two of its leading, prominent businesses. With all eyes set to follow the Jamaicans’ journey in Italy, the multi-sponsored bobsleighs the likes of the ‘Bailey Wright & Co. Solicitors’ and ‘Island Delight’ Caribbean patties logos – who are amongst the sponsors, supporters and backers emblazoned across the team’s vehicle.

And she – or, more precisely, they, as well as Island Delight patties will be seen and know by millions around the world. For Jamaica’s ever-improving bobsleighing exploits, who knows what they can achieve. 

The JBSF has the world of confidence in what the Jamaican bobsleigh team can achieve: “This achievement reflects sustained excellence, commitment and international competitiveness on the world stage,” a statement from them announced. “It confirms Jamaica as one of the most consistent tropical nations in winter sport.”

Jamaica bobsleighing rose to global fame during the Winter Olympic Games, in Calgary, in 1988. There and then, team members Dudley Stokes, Devon HarrisChris Stokes and Michael White, rose to fame as the first Jamaican athletes to compete in the bobsleigh competition at a Winter Games – since then, the country has qualified for the 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2014 and 2022 Games, whilst a Women's team debuted in 2018.

The 2026 Winter Olympics  is scheduled to take place from 6 to 22 February 2026, with the bobsleigh event taking place at the Cortina Sliding Centre from February 12. So, for ‘Bailey Wright & Co. and Island Delight, it all starts then.
