Banish Blue Monday by booking into a Sandwell library and make the most of a week-long list of activities to lift the spirits. Sandwell Libraries are running lots of inspiring events from January 18-25 to encourage positive thinking on what has been identified as one of the most miserable days of the year. Events include themed art therapy sessions using the latest colouring books to encourage mindfulness, a Laurel and Hardy Laughter Film Night at Great Bridge Library, musical bingo sessions at Bleakhouse Library and the opportunity to consult the book doctor at Blackheath Library.

Blue Monday was originally identified in 2005 by academic Cliff Arnall, and is traditionally the third Monday in January and comes at a time when people might need a bit of cheering up – the gloomy, post-Christmas, back-to-work-and-school month of January.
