Black Country Women’s Aid is running a chance of a lifetime sponsored challenge to support victims of domestic abuse. The thrilling event will see participants ‘fired’ up and walking over hot embers in the grounds of Dudley Arms in Himley on Wednesday 26th October between 6 pm and 9 pm.

Dudley Councillor, Shaz Saleem, will be fundraising and braving the Firewalk among many other local Black Country community groups including: Black Country Aggregates (sponsors), Pavers (sponsors), The Enchanted Florist, Land Rover, Tile Choice, Jo Downing Martial Arts. Black Country Women’s Aid staff will be getting involved too.

The Firewalk is a unique, safe and empowering challenge that will give you a truly memorable experience. The Firewalk delivery partner, Chirag Lukha, is both a martial artist and a danger act who auditioned for Series 15 of Britain's Got Talent.

In 2002 Chirag did his first firewalk and glasswalk as part of a martial arts exercise. Experiencing how powerful these metaphors of the mind were he eventually began to use them in demonstrations.

There will be amazing stalls from our fantastic traders, music, raffles, a tombola and more for everyone to enjoy on the night, more details on our Facebook page.  Guests can sample fantastic food and drink from our hosts the Dudley Arms, including their famous carvery.

This is a family event with something for everyone as you cheer on our brave firewalkers. So you can join them for a night to remember!

Black Country Women’s Aid refuges support women and children fleeing domestic abuse and exploitation. Many of them will have had to leave their homes with nothing. When they move on from refuge into safe new homes, we give them a helping hand in turning an empty house into a home.

All funds raised by the Firewalk will buy basic but essential items we all take for granted such as curtains, bedding, kettle, toaster, cutlery, microwave, towels, fridge, crockery, pots and pans etc. By registering for the Firewalk event and raising sponsorship will aallow women and children to escape living in fear, overcome trauma and set up home again.

·         £100.00 raised, could pay for a home starter pack: microwave, kettle, toaster, mugs, dinner service, towels and cutlery

·         £200.00 raised, could pay for a bed, a wardrobe, TV, curtains, fridge, carpet

·         £400.00 raised, could pay for a sofa, table and chairs, bunk beds, floor coverings, paint and wallpaper

It will give these families the best start and help them to create new happy memories.

Sara Ward, Chief Executive of Black Country Women’s Aid, said: “We are thrilled to have so many supporters and staff get behind this fantastic firewalk fundraiser. Every step they take will help us to support victims of violence and abuse.

“There’s still time to sign up and take on this incredible challenge. We’d love to see you and your well-wishers on what promises to be an inspirational, rewarding, and fun night out.

“With food, stalls, a raffle and a tombola, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, while helping others in need to rebuild their lives. So please come along, you’ll get a warm welcome!”

There’s plenty of fun ‘afoot’, so gather your friends and family and help us cheer on our brave fire walkers in this thrilling challenge! Or accomplish a great ‘feet’ instead by joining in with this exhilarating event and walking on fire.  Standard registration fee of £30.00 also includes a free raffle ticket and Firewalk certificate.
