Legendary House music DJ, Carl Cox, is pushing young people, particularly clubbers, to get jabbed in a bid to help save lives and keep the beleaguered nightlife industry afloat. The DJ, who has been double jabbed himself, appears in the video (https://www.14dd5266c70789bdc806364df4586335-gdprlock/watch?v=1l_zyGLxvv0)
with Dr Kishan Bodalia, where they discuss the importance of the jabs to the continued success of the UK’s nigh time economy.
In the video, Carl said: “My whole life existence over the last 30 years has been entertaining people in small clubs, in bars and wine bars and big clubs and festivals alike. What I do, it creates a gathering of people. So that's what I'd like to see happen more than anything, that we can basically all be safe in knowing that we're going out to party safe and enjoy ourselves.”
He added: “We are in a pandemic. This is something that we are all trying to deal with and all trying to work on and what we don't want is the clubs to not work. At the end of the day, we are all on the frontline now. So, it’s the only thing we can do to protect ourselves, to be able to enjoy our moments.”
When asked about his own experience of having the vaccination, he said: “My first jab was nice and easy. No problem. My second one, was a bit bruisy, felt a bit woozy for about a day or so. And I'm absolutely fine talking to you now here today.”
This is particularly pertinent, after the very sad loss of iconic DJ and producer Paul Johnson, who passed away on Wednesday after contracting covid, at just 50 years of age.
