Chewton Glen has won the title of 'UK Holiday Hotel 2016' for the third time, in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Travel Awards, which was held last night in London's Ham Yard Hotel. Chewton Glen's sister property Cliveden House was also awarded 4th place in the same category, a tremendous achievement for both hotels.

Hosted by Condé Nast Traveller's Publishing Director, Simon Leadsford and the publications Editor, Melinda Stevens, The Readers' Travel Awards celebrates the best of the best in travel, as voted for by people who love travel. Readers were asked to vote for the things they loved most about travel – their favourite country, city, island; their all-time pick of the world's top hotels and spas;  their airline, airport, cruise line, villa rental company and tour operator of choice - and rate them all out of 100. The results were collated and analysed by an independent market-research company.

According to Melinda Stevens the results are the very best travel experiences in the world.  Chewton Glen was awarded a score of 88.2 (Cliveden achieved 85.5 in the UK Holiday Hotel category), with its 'steady-as-you-go consistency' across all eight criteria in the category being praised by Condé Nast Traveller.

Attending the glittering reception last night, Andrew Stembridge, Managing Director of Chewton Glen and Cliveden House said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Chewton Glen scooped the top slot for UK Holiday Hotel in the Reader's Awards again. Condé Nast readers are extremely well travelled and discerning, hence this accolade is a considerable achievement amongst very stiff competition, which included several popular newcomers too.”

“Even more exciting is the fact that after an extensive refurbishment programme Cliveden is now working its way back up the charts again, achieving a very respectable 4th place in the same category! It was great to see the Chewton Glen Spa with a healthy 'Top 5' place in the UK Spa Category and we have high hopes for the new Cliveden Spa, which will be opening in Spring 2017. I am very proud of both teams and we are very grateful to the readers who took the time and trouble to vote."

This is the second award-winning visit to London's Ham Yard Hotel this summer for Chewton Glen. On the 13th July 2016, the hotel was successful in achieving the number one place in the first ever 'Hoteliers' Hotels Top 100' award and the accolades of 'Countryside Hotel of the Year' and the 'Spa Hotel of the Year', a fabulous hat-trick for Chewton Glen. The inaugural 'Hoteliers' Hotels Top 100' list, unveiled by The Caterer and Sky were compiled by the UK's leading hoteliers and verified by some of the nation's pre-eminent hotel experts. Cliveden House was also successful in these awards with a top 10 ranking.

Celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2016, Chewton Glen has never been content to stand still and the planned opening in December this year of 'The Kitchen', a new purpose-built cookery school and informal tasting floor restaurant, which will be overseen by chef and TV presenter James Martin, will continue to demonstrate Chewton Glen's commitment to award-winning hospitality and excellence.
