This week begins a series highlighting the CMEx laureates, who will be recognized on Sunday, December 7, in Miami at Loews Coral Gables Hotel.

The series starts with Dave Chang, Carnival Cruise Line’s Senior Vice President of Consumer Sales and Contact Centres, who leads more than 1,800 sales and service professionals driving revenue and customer support for the world’s largest cruise line.

Chang, a 33-year cruise industry veteran and one of Carnival’s most senior sales executives, is known for his “People First” mantra, recognizing that employee engagement is key to success. His leadership has fuelled consistent revenue growth, helping Carnival become the most popular cruise line in North America.

A native of Jamaica, Chang began his career at Renaissance Cruises before joining Carnival in 2001 as a sales manager. Over the past two decades, he has advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, culminating in his current position.

Though he has sold countless vacations, he is most proud of the lives he has positively impacted with his team philosophy: “Simply treat others how you would like to be treated and watch them thrive.” After moving with his family to South Florida at age 16, Chang worked while pursuing his education, later earning a B.A. in business management and completing Columbia University’s Advanced Management Program.

He remains committed to giving back, supporting charities and sponsoring students at his alma mater, York Castle High School in Jamaica, where he also mentors and speaks to future tourism leaders. The CMEx Awards is sponsored by Carnival Corporation & plc, Chukka Caribbean Adventures, and Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board.

Proceeds will support educational initiatives that empower Caribbean youth and tourism professionals.
