Performances inspired by real life heroes including Anne Frank, Walt Disney, Benjamin Franklin, Dr Seuss, David Bowie and Moses are set to entertain the crowds at Walsall College. BTEC Level 3 Dance students at the college are putting the finishing touches together for their ‘Heroes’ show, which will be performed in the college’s own theatre space, The Venue, on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th May at its Wisemore Campus.

Both year 1 and 2 students will get the chance to showcase their talents and the skills they have learnt throughout the year to a public audience, from the range of dance styles to choreography techniques.

During the show, more than 20 major scenes from books, films and moments in history will be acted out by the talented students, with each one focusing on a different hero.

Students have also been tasked with sourcing or making their own costumes to help them develop wider industry skills.

Walsall College Dance Lecturer, Faye Cox commented: “The students have come up with some great ideas for this final project, which forms part of their assessment. We are delighted with the creativity, enthusiasm and dedication students have shown during rehearsals and are looking forward to the shows, which will be another great opportunity for students to build on their experience performing for a live audience.

“The show demonstrates the diversity of the material covered on the course as well as being a great celebration, with many of the students progressing on to university next year.

“It’s a show not to be missed and I’d definitely urge people to come along and support our students.”

Performances of will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 17th and 2pm and 7pm on Wednesday 18th May.
