Europe’s newest deep tech accelerator, ACCEND, is calling for applications — offering scaleups a powerful opportunity to expand internationally and accelerate their route to market.

Led by the University of Edinburgh, ACCEND brings together 10 leading innovation organisations to create one of the largest deep tech networks of its kind supporting companies to develop solutions for our cities. This ambitious, cross-border scaleup programme tackles the persistent challenges facing deep tech founders - including fragmented markets, slow procurement processes and complex funding landscapes - by providing the tools and networks needed to scale more confidently.

Three cohorts cover Smart Cities, Net Zero Cities and Regenerative Cities. ACCEND offers selected companies a comprehensive growth package that includes tailored diagnostics, one-to-one guidance and strategic coaching focused on European and global expansion.

Participants gain access to curated introductions to investors, cities and innovation buyers, as well as support to pilot technologies across real-world testbeds throughout Europe. The programme further boosts visibility with public-sector innovation buyers through pitching sessions, matchmaking and expert guidance on navigating procurement systems across the EU and UK.

Scaleups also benefit from international go-to-market support, with targeted sessions and strategic pathways into priority global markets such as the US and China. Dedicated support for women-led deep tech companies includes specialist networking opportunities, investor engagement and connections to initiatives such as Women TechEU.

Dr Gemma Cassells (pic), project coordinator and Head of Strategy for the Data-Driven Innovation programme at the University of Edinburgh, said: “ACCEND is about giving deep tech companies the tools, networks and validation environments they need to scale — not just locally, but across borders.” Applications are open until 12 noon (GMT) on 23 December 2025.
