The league-leading London Lions went unbeaten in March and ended the month by lifting the Betty Codona WBBL Trophy, resulting in a Molten WBBL Coach of the Month award for Head Coach Stella Kaltsidou.

The former Greek international star took over the reins at Lions in February, joining from posts as Assistant Coach at powerhouse Olympiacos and with the Slovenian National Team, after a more than two decade playing career at the highest levels of the European game.

Kaltsidou didn't take long in lifting her first piece of silverware on these shores, as Lions defended the Betty Codona WBBL Trophy by beating Leicester Riders at the Emirates Arena, live on Sky Sports, in their last game of March to win the competition for the third season in a row.

In a tight game that went back-and-forth against the team currently chasing them in second place in the league, Lions trailed early in the third quarter until an 18-5 burst put them up double-figures and kept them in front for good; although a Kaltsidou timeout was still needed midway through the fourth as Riders got back to within two shots - her team responded to that with the next eight points to seal the win.

To reach the final, they had previously beaten top four rivals B. Braun Sheffield Hatters 112-77 in the semi-final earlier in March, after a similar dominant 36-14 third quarter broke open an otherwise tight game.

In WBBL Championship play, there was a pair of huge double-digit home wins over Oaklands Wolves and Essex Rebels at the Copper Box Arena, the latter being their best defensive performance since the opening game of the season, meaning Lions are on a 14-1 record atop the WBBL Championship table.

Lions will now look to secure the regular season title in April, a month that already started with consecutive wins over top four rivals in Hatters and Sevenoaks Suns, with a home contest against Leicester Riders on 16th April being a potential key showdown.
