Flatrock Motorclub has confirmed it will resume its partnership with American Indy NXT by Firestone racing talent Michael d’Orlando at the 2024 Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in Nashville, Tennessee this weekend.
The renewed collaboration will once again see the special Flatrock livery adorn d’Orlando’s #3 car, as it did previously at the Detroit and Road America race weekends earlier this season. Flatrock Motorclub’s continued backing of the highly talented New York racer comes as part of its strong commitment to supporting home-grown racing stars of the future.
Michael d’Orlando is currently one of a select few drivers on the entire 22-car grid of the 2024 Indy NXT by Firestone series that is not committed for a full season, adding further significance to this vital partnership. The young New Yorker has not been able to compete due to funding issues since the Road America GP and now sits 18th in the Indy NXT by Firestone drivers’ championship as a result, having been firmly placed in the top 10 prior to his budget-driven absence from the track.
As a result, he will be competing on the Nashville Superspeedway as part of the Andretti Cape Indy NXT team with added incentive to finish his season on a high and deliver another strong performance to cap of a memorable season, packed full of highs and lows. Nashville Superspeedway, Middle Tennessee’s racing jewel, is known for its high-intensity, wheel-to-wheel action, and as the season finale, it will be the first oval finale in a decade.
The 1.33-mile D-shaped concrete oval features 14 degrees of banking and has hosted eight previous NTT IndyCar Series events. Rusty Bittle, Founding Partner at Flatrock Motorsports Park commented on today’s news: “We are delighted to partner with Michael d’Orlando once again, especially at our ‘home’ race here in Nashville.
“Michael is a great talent with a remarkable dedication to his craft. In spite of the challenges he has faced in the second half of this season, his focus and passion for racing has not wavered. To see him back on track, representing the Flatrock colours, on the awesome Nashville Superspeedway for the season finale will be a particular highlight for all of us.
“We are confident he will finish his season in style and lay the foundations for an even bigger and better journey with Indy NXT in 2025. Flatrock is proud to support him on his journey and we can’t wait to hit the track together this weekend!”
Michael d’Orlando will be racing in the Indy NXT by Firestone Music City Grand Prix at the Nashville Superspeedway this Sunday September 15th, with the race set to be televised on the Peacock Channel at 11.50am EDT. Flatrock is set to become America’s newest premium racing facility, showcasing a 3.50-mile Tilke designed “Club’ circuit for members.
Construction on the facility has been ongoing since last year and set to open to members this fall.
