A hole-in-one fundraising effort by Chelmsford-based housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties has raised an impressive £10,130 for its Charities of the Year, The Men’s Shed Chelmsford and the Little Edi Foundation.
A total of 77 golfers – including staff, suppliers and sub-contractors – took to the fairways at The Golf Club at Potters Resorts Five Lakes in Maldon for the charity tournament, which proved to be a real driving force for the local causes. The funds raised on the day will be split equally between the developer’s two Charities of the Year.
The Men’s Shed Chelmsford is a welcoming community workshop where men of all ages can come together to socialise, learn new skills, work on practical projects, and support each other’s wellbeing through hands-on activities. Meanwhile, The Little Edi Foundation supports disadvantaged children and families across Chelmsford and beyond by distributing food parcels, hygiene packs, school supplies, and funding youth development opportunities – both locally and through volunteer grants.
The charity also provides community activities, parenting support, and summer schemes to foster wellbeing, learning, and self‑esteem. As Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties’ Charities of the Year for 2025, both organisations will continue to benefit from the developer’s corporate fundraising events throughout the year, with the next being a charity football tournament scheduled for September.
Chelmsford-based Simcott Group swung into first place to claim victory in the tournament, with each player receiving a Cobra wedge as a prize. Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “Our charity golf day is always a fantastic occasion and a highlight of our fundraising calendar.
“This year, we were delighted to support two brilliant local charities that make a real difference in Chelmsford. We’re extremely grateful to everyone who came along and took part – their generosity will go a long way towards supporting the important work of both The Men’s Shed Chelmsford and The Little Edi Foundation.
“We’re already looking forward to swapping golf clubs for football boots at our next fundraiser in September.” For more information about the Charities of the Year or to make a donation, visit The Men’s Shed Chelmsford and Little Edi Foundation.
