Founded in 2003 and officially launched in 2004 under the auspices of the Jamaican Consulate in Miami, the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce plays a vital role in strengthening business and cultural relations between Jamaica and the United States. The not-for-profit organisation serves as a platform for networking, trade development, and diaspora engagement.

Its initiatives support industries such as international trade, healthcare, hospitality, technology, entertainment, and media. The Chamber’s annual awards soirée recognises outstanding individuals and businesses who exemplify Jamaican excellence in the global marketplace.

For nearly three decades, Murphy’s platform, Jamaicans.com, has served as a vital hub for Jamaicans around the world. Since its launch in 1995, it has grown into a multimedia powerhouse, connecting the diaspora through news, cultural features, interviews, stories, and community initiatives.

Today, Jamaicans.com reaches millions of readers annually across the United States, the Caribbean, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His work includes the beloved “Jamaicans to the World” interview series and the Best of Jamaica Awards, now in its 26th year, which recognises excellence in Jamaican food, culture, business, and entertainment both locally and internationally.

Murphy’s leadership has kept Jamaicans.com at the forefront of digital storytelling, celebrating Jamaican achievements and amplifying underrepresented voices across the globe. Murphy’s contributions to Jamaican media have been recognised by various local governments in South Florida.

In 2015, the City of Miramar proclaimed December “Jamaicans.com Month”. In 2020, the City of Lauderhill issued a proclamation recognising Murphy as a pioneer in web-based communication.

As Jamaicans.com celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, Murphy’s recognition by the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce stands as a reminder of the importance of community media and the global impact of Jamaican excellence.
