Free drop-in jobs and advice sessions for young people in Wednesbury and Tipton have been set up. Personal advisers from Sandwell Connexions will be on hand to talk about apprenticeships and employment and provide support with CVs and interviews.

Sessions are targeted at young people aged 15 to 19, and up to 25 for people with learning difficulties.

Sessions are at Wednesbury Town Hall, in Holyhead Road, every Thursday from 11am-2pm.

In Tipton, personal advisers will be at:

  • Glebefields Library, St Mark's Road, one Friday every four weeks, from 1pm-3pm (next session is 12 June)
  • Tipton Library, Unity Walk, one Wednesday every four weeks from 1pm-4pm (next session is 17 June)
  • Great Bridge Library, Sheepwash Lane, one Wednesday every four weeks from 1pm-4pm (next session is 24 June)

Outreach venues are due to be rolled out into West Bromwich, Smethwick and Rowley Regis in the coming weeks. Connexions Sandwell is based at Sandwell Council House, Oldbury.

"This is an excellent service for the many young people who are looking for jobs in Sandwell and I would urge people to get along and get advice on what is available and on how to improve CVs and interview techniques," said Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children’s services.    To speak to a personal adviser or to find out more about Sandwell Connexions and the outreach venues, visit www.connexionssandwell.co.uk or call 0845 352 0055.
