Christ the King Football Club has seen numerous events organised over the course of this their celebratory 70th Anniversary year, with hundreds of attendees. Starting with a celebratory mass and gathering of past and present players at the start of the year, through a hilariously entertaining evening with two very special guests in former Liverpool legends Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer, as well as incorporating their highly successful Gala Day children’s football tournament - The culmination of these celebrations being a black-tie Gala Evening, at the Royal Court Hotel, in Coventry.

Having formed in 1946 by a small group of local parishioners, the club now encompasses over 30 teams ranging in age from under 7’s, right through to open age adults. They can also boast of the only remaining football club in Coventry to have three senior teams competing in the Coventry Alliance League.

Over the years a number of players have progressed through the ranks of the club at various levels, including current Premier League stars Callum Wilson at Bournemouth and Arsenal’s highly-rated Daniel Crowley, having Kings Chair, Vinny Sloyan stating; “Without the ongoing support, commitment and passion for Christ the King Football Club,” we would not be one of the top amateur football clubs in the City,”

After an event-packed celebratory 2016, Christ the King Football Club’s 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Dance takes place on November 12, at the Royal Court Hotel in the city with many past and present players as well as well-respected members of the club being part of what is an historic year for Coventry’s oldest grassroots football club.
