Leeds Beckett academic Louise Sutton’s outstanding and sustained contribution to the field of sports and exercise nutrition has been recognised with a fellowship from the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
In granting the award, the BDA credited Louise’s work with transforming the sports nutrition profession. Louise’s work with the BDA has established and raised standards in education and training which directly led to the expansion of endorsed and accredited programmes across higher education.
Louise has applied her knowledge to improve performance and athlete welfare across elite sports, including athletics, football, cricket, cycling and rugby. She has helped to support polar challenges, Atlantic rows and Himalayan expeditions.
As head of subject for Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Leeds Beckett, Louise brings her wealth of teaching and applied experience to nationally renowned courses. Pete Mackreth, Dean of Leeds Beckett’s Carnegie School of Sport, said: “This fellowship is richly deserved recognition of Louise’s incredible talent and commitment to her profession.
“Through her work with Olympians and professionals across multiple sports, roles at the BDA, and research and teaching at Leeds Beckett, Louise continues to educate and inspire athletes, students and colleagues. Congratulations to Louise!”
