The countdown is for a determined fundraiser as he laces up the trainers ready to tackle a half marathon to support mental health and wellbeing charity, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group.

Account manager, Liam Coombes is taking part in the London Landmarks half marathon and is raising funds for the Midlands based charity. The Midlands-based charity helps thousands of people across the UK each year and offers a range of services for people in need, struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing.

The event is not your average half marathon! Passing the best of London’s iconic and cultural landmarks, runners get to explore the capital on a route like no other. On his route Liam will take in the fabulous views of Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the Shard, and the London Eye to name a few.

Liam is currently hard at work training for the annual 13.1mile race around the capital. When he isn’t training for the unique half marathon Liam works at MSC Industrial Supply Co, who are a corporate partner with the Kaleidoscope Plus Group.

When asked why he is putting himself through his first half marathon Liam said: “The reason I decided to enter the London Landmarks Half marathon is to give myself a challenge as I have done other fundraising challenges in the past.

“I wanted to raise money for the Kaleidoscope Plus Group because through our corporate partnership at MSC I’m aware of the brilliant work done by the team at Kaleidoscope to support those struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing. I have a lot of friends who deal with their own mental health struggles, and I want to play a small part in raising valuable funds and importantly vital awareness for the important work KPG do in helping those who need support, which will personally mean a lot.

“I have done fundraisers before, but never a half marathon so I’m really looking forward to it and soaking in the atmosphere on the day.” On the incredible support from Liam, Monica Shafaq, CEO at the Kaleidoscope Plus Group said: “We can’t thank Liam enough for his support and the support of all his colleagues at MSC.

“We are delighted that Liam has decided to run for team KPG at such an iconic race as we celebrate our 50th anniversary as a charity. Our ethos has always been to help people feel good whether that be through the support they receive or the experience they have when fundraising or volunteering for us.

“All the money raised will go to services that provide crucial mental health support for those in need. I can only thank Liam for advocating having those conversations around mental health, it is so important for us to help remove the stigma that surrounds talking about mental health.”

Liam is well into his training now after an initial injury scare and looking forward to crossing the finish line on Sunday 2 April. For anyone who would like to support Liam and help him reach his £500 target, then visit his fundraising  page: https://getinvolved.kaleidoscopeplus.org.uk/fundraisers/liamcoombes/london-landmarks-half-marathon
