Pride Sports, part of the Pride House Birmingham 2022 legacy programme, are have announced that they are bidding to bring the European Gay & Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF) EuroGames to Birmingham in the summer of 2024.

EuroGames is Europe’s largest annual LGBTQI+ inclusive sports event.

The British public has selected a further seven ‘One Step Greener’ Ambassadors from across the UK who are going above and beyond to tackle climate change. They will join the existing 13 Ambassadors, inspiring the public to go one step greener and having their stories showcased at COP26.

Sports fans hoping to secure tickets for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games need to act fast as the main ticket ballot for the Games will close at 8pm today (Thursday September 30). There are more than one million tickets available for the Games, the biggest multi-sport event to be held in the UK since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with prices starting at just £8 for under 16s and £15 for adults.

Former Liverpool and England striker Roger Hunt has died age 83, the Premier League club has announced. He was part of England's 1966 World Cup-winning side and is Liverpool's record league scorer with 244 goals.

The forward won 34 England caps, scoring 18 international goals after making his debut in 1962 when Liverpool were in English football's second tier.

It’s one of the most emotive moments of any sporting event and over the past few weeks, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) have been recording the national anthems for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

All 72 anthems were arranged and conducted by Royal Academy of Music professor Philip Sheppard, who specialises in film and television soundtracks.

The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) – Promoter of the FORMULA 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021 – has today become an Official World Record Holder as the final brick was placed by the Chairman of SAMF, HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, to complete the world’s largest LEGO brick build of a Formula 1® car in aid of Ehsan - Saudi Arabia’s National Platform for Charitable Work.

The record was certified by Guinness World Records, whose representatives observed the successful completion of the LEGO brick build of a Formula 1 car before officially verifying the achievement.

England have withdrawn their men's and women's teams from series in Pakistan that were due to take place next month.

The men were set to make their first trip to Pakistan since 2005, while the women had never before played there.

Olympic 1500m silver medallist, Laura Muir, and double Paralympic gold medallist, Kadeena Cox, have made a special visit to the Alexander Stadium to see for themselves the progress being made on the redevelopment of the venue ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Both athletes used the visit to announce that they intend to compete at the major multi-sport event next summer. 

Muir, who will be representing Scotland, as she did at the 2014 edition of the Games, is determined to win a Commonwealth medal and is pleased to have the opportunity to do so in a British city where she’s previously seen success.
