West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster is asking people to use their voice to tell him their main concerns about policing.
The information that you give us will help to develop the new Police and Crime Plan, which will set out the W.M.P.C.C.'s policing priorities and what West Midlands Police will be delivering over the next four years. Mr. Foster wants the region’s police force to be an excellent force - one that people deserve and they want to ensure that those priorities are influenced by the information and feedback that is given to them.
It is important that they are responding to the needs of the communities and are holding a series of events that are targeting particular priority areas: Faith communities have a critical role to play in reaching and connecting with individuals and families across the West Midlands. They are visible within and able to offer support in a way that statutory partners alone aren’t able to and make an important contribution to the prevention and reduction of violence and keeping communities safe.
Faith groups contribute significantly to society, in so many ways and they want to ensure that they maximise the potential of faith communities to help us look for solutions, whether it be by providing opportunities for young people, utilising the resource of volunteering or making community assets available. The W.P.C.C. is keen to engage with, listen to and work with the diverse faith groups of the West Midlands in a collaborative way in order to influence the priorities being developed for his new Police and Crime Plan, and want to increase their engagement with faith communities, and this event is an opportunity to further the work that they are already doing.
So, people are encouraged to turn up and hear about the work of the Faith Alliance, join in the conversation and help the PCC to progress the work that they are already doing. Voices will help to work towards a safer and more inclusive West Midlands.
There are a number of strands to this consultation, and it is running for 3 months - ending mid-October. A Police & Crime Plan 2025-2029 public consultation is encouraged to be filled out as well as attending this event.
The event is set to take place on Monday, September 23, at Villa Park, Trinity Road, in Birmingham.
