People are being encouraged to think of the small things they can do to be kind to their minds this World Mental Health Day (Monday October 10).

Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any time, and the NHS Every Mind Matters campaign offers simple tips about the small things people can do to look after their mental wellbeing; for details, visit www.nhs.uk/every-mind-matters.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Around a quarter of people in England are likely to experience a mental health problem, and the coronavirus pandemic and the cost of living crisis has made the situation worse for many.

“It’s important that everyone understands that they do not need to suffer in silence because help and support is available and so, as we approach World Mental Health Day, I would encourage people to seek the support they, or their loved ones, may need.

"There are small things we can all do to be kind to our minds and make a big difference to how we feel. So please take a few minutes to look at the advice and tips available through Every Mind Matters and see if you can make them part of your daily routine.”

People who are concerned about their mental health and wellbeing, or that of others, are encouraged to contact one of their local organisations for help and support.
